Why am I running?

I am running for School Board because I believe that in order to keep our school system great we must have a voice that represents the Twenty-First century classroom. Our school system has the potential to be one of the best systems in the state, but in order to accomplish that we must utilize all of our resources while dealing with the current and future issues the board will have to deal with. We must create an environment where communication is open and no individual fears retribution for expressing their views. Smart budgeting, re-assessing our priorities, and listening to the community should be the biggest focus of the school board. Here in Cabarrus County we are facing tremendous growth all over, but especially in Harrisburg and the North-West area of Concord. We need leaders who can deal with this and many other issues. Experience is key, and my two years of interning on the school board and being able to see how the system operates is something that could be beneficial to the community. We must work to create open and honest dialogue with the board and administration in order to come up with the best solutions for the issues facing our schools and communities. Knowing the board members and staff, I believe I will be able to create that dialogue and maintain good relations with other members and community leaders. I want to be the voice of the Twenty-First century classroom and bring forth a comfortable environment for discussion. My job will be to represent the citizens of Cabarrus County. I look forward to getting to meet all the citizens I can and earning each person’s vote!
